I take end-to-end ownership of software systems, or just one part of them: commerce platforms, multi-tenant SaaS, and the mobile apps that sit on top.
What's different: correctness is enforced by the system, not by someone remembering. The ledger is append-only. The duplicate is rejected by the database. A job that gives up tells a human it gave up.
Most software doesn't fail loudly. It reports success, does nothing, and nobody finds out until a customer does.
