My Journey as a Professional WordPress Website Developer
Upwork • Freiberufler
Oct 2020 - Present • 5 yrs 7 mos
I started my journey as a WordPress website developer with just curiosity and determination. At first, things were really difficult because I didn’t have proper guidance or expensive resources. I started learning from free YouTube videos, online blogs, and by practicing on small personal projects. Most times, I would spend hours trying to fix one small error without anyone to help me. There were moments I felt frustrated, especially when websites broke after updates or plugins caused issues I didn’t understand. One of my biggest challenges was getting clients to trust me when I was still new. I had the skills, but no strong portfolio to prove myself. So I started by building free or low-cost websites for small businesses and friends just to gain experience and confidence. Sometimes clients would request changes repeatedly, and I had to learn patience, communication, and how to manage projects professionally. As time went on, I became more confident in WordPress development. I learned how to customize themes, use Elementor, improve website speed, fix security issues, and build WooCommerce stores. Every project taught me something new, and instead of running away from challenges, I started seeing them as opportunities to improve myself. Today, I can proudly say I have grown into a professional WordPress developer who can build responsive, modern, and user-friendly websites for different businesses and brands. My experience has taught me that consistency, self-learning, and hard work matter more than starting perfectly. I’m still learning every day, but I’m proud of how far I’ve come from struggling with simple errors to confidently handling complete website projects for clients.
My Experience as a WordPress SEO Optimization Specialist
Freelancer.com • Freiberufler
Jul 2020 - Present • 5 yrs 10 mos
When I first started working with WordPress websites, I noticed something frustrating — some websites looked beautiful but nobody could find them on Google. That was what pushed me into learning SEO optimization. At the beginning, SEO felt very confusing because there were too many terms like keywords, backlinks, indexing, domain authority, and technical SEO. I made a lot of mistakes trying to understand how search engines actually work. One challenge I faced early was ranking my own test website. No matter how much effort I put in, the site stayed invisible on search results. I spent weeks researching, watching tutorials late at night, testing plugins like Yoast SEO and Rank Math, and learning why website speed, mobile responsiveness, and content structure mattered so much. There were times I optimized a website and still saw no results, which honestly made me doubt myself. Another difficult part was explaining SEO to clients. Many people expected instant Google rankings in just a few days, so I had to learn patience and how to educate clients that SEO is a gradual process. Some projects were stressful because of poor hosting, broken website structures, or slow-loading pages that affected performance. Instead of giving up, I used those situations to improve my problem solving skills. With time and experience, I became more confident in handling on-page SEO, technical SEO, keyword research, website audits, speed optimization, and improving website visibility using WordPress tools and strategies. I learned how to optimize websites not just for search engines, but also for real users. Seeing websites move from low traffic to gaining consistent visitors became one of the most rewarding parts of my journey. Today, I’m proud of how far I’ve come. From struggling to understand basic SEO concepts to helping websites perform better online, my journey has been built on learning, consistency, and real hands on experience.
My Journey as a Professional WordPress UI/UX Designer
Fiverr • Freiberufler
Mar 2019 - Present • 7 yrs 2 mos
I started my journey into WordPress UI/UX design with little experience but a strong passion for creating beautiful and user-friendly websites. At first, I only knew the basics of WordPress, and honestly, my early designs were not that great. I struggled with choosing the right colors, layouts, fonts, and making websites responsive on mobile devices. Most times, I would spend hours redesigning one section because it didn’t feel right. One major challenge I faced was understanding the difference between just building a website and creating a good user experience. I realized that a website is not only about looking nice, but also about making it easy for visitors to navigate and interact with. I started learning more about UI/UX principles through YouTube tutorials, online courses, and by studying successful websites. Another challenge was self-doubt and getting clients to trust my work. Since I was still growing, I had to take small projects, sometimes for very little pay, just to improve my skills and build my portfolio. There were times clients rejected my designs or requested endless revisions, but those experiences helped me become more patient, creative, and professional. As time went on, I became more confident using tools like Elementor, Figma, Adobe XD, and WordPress customization features to design clean, modern, and responsive websites. I learned how to create user-focused designs that improve engagement, loading speed, and overall user satisfaction. Today, I can proudly say I have grown into a professional WordPress UI/UX designer who understands both design and functionality. My journey has taught me that growth takes consistency, practice, and patience. From struggling with basic layouts to creating professional websites for businesses and brands, every challenge shaped me into the designer I am today.
