I run AssetSmithy, creating ready-to-use 2D assets for indie game developers: backgrounds and environments, visual novel character avatars, side-view battlers, item and UI icons, and themed music sets. Most of my work is built around one problem: keeping a large set visually consistent. A single asset is straightforward. Fifty of them that look like they belong to the same game is where projects usually fall apart, so my process is built around generating in groups and matching everything up afterwards in Photoshop. I publish finished asset packs on game developer marketplaces and take on commissioned work alongside that, from single assets to full themed packs.
