During my internship, I independently designed and developed a real-time traffic monitoring system, applying my backend engineering expertise to a domain that pushed me beyond software into the intersection of hardware and systems design. The project involved architecting a data pipeline capable of ingesting, processing, and surfacing live traffic sensor data — requiring me to think carefully about latency, reliability, and scalability under real-world conditions. Beyond the backend, I deepened my understanding of electronics fundamentals — working with sensor integration, signal processing, and the constraints that physical hardware imposes on software architecture. This hands-on experience bridged the gap between pure software thinking and embedded/hardware-aware systems design, giving me a much more complete picture of how full-stack systems actually operate at the infrastructure level. The internship sharpened my ability to own a technical project end-to-end — from initial architecture decisions to implementation and debugging — while operating in an environment with real constraints and real stakes.
