I have been beta-reading for several years. As part of my attack, I first ensure that me and the writer have set expectations on the type of feedback and level of granularity. Part of what makes me particularly great, is my ability to understand the needs of writers. It it important to me to give honest feedback but specifically, tailored to the goals of the writer. I have learned to use discretion in my criticism on a first draft, leaning heavily into encouragement and what works well. On the other end of the spectrum, when presented with a final draft, I leave no stone unturned, looking for anything that could be potentially be scrutinized by future readers and publishers.

As part of my duties in the USAF, I was responsible for creating realistic workout plans to ensure that others could pass the physical exam necessary. I would work with them to build up necessary muscles and endurance. Part of my training plan was providing necessary modifications to exercises and isolating weakness so build better over all muscle strength without injury.
