My developmental approach combines close manuscript reading, in-text editorial comments, and big-picture analysis. I evaluate plot and pacing, character motivations and arcs, romance and emotional development, worldbuilding, magic systems and lore, continuity, POV, dialogue, scene effectiveness, and the overall reader experience. I'll identify what's working, where readers may lose interest or become confused, and where opportunities exist to deepen or strengthen the story.

What do I need to provide before you begin?
Please provide your manuscript in an editable Word document, along with your genre/subgenre, total word count, intended audience, and a brief story synopsis. I’ll also ask about your goals, areas of concern, and any specific questions you’d like me to consider while reading.
Does my manuscript need to be finished?
Not necessarily! I can provide developmental feedback on completed manuscripts or works in progress. For unfinished manuscripts, please let me know your plans for the remaining story so I can evaluate the submitted portion within the context of your larger vision.
What will I receive with my developmental edit?
You’ll receive your manuscript with detailed in-text comments alongside an editorial summary outlining my key observations and recommendations.
Will you rewrite or make changes directly to my manuscript?
Developmental editing focuses on strengthening the story itself rather than rewriting your prose. I’ll identify areas that may need attention, explain why they may not be working, and offer actionable suggestions and possible solutions—but the creative decisions remain yours.
