At Point Dedicated Services, I worked within a transportation environment where legal issues often developed in real time through freight movement, driver operations, customer commitments, and regulatory demands. My responsibility was to provide legal direction that accounted for both the commercial realities of trucking and the obligations imposed on motor carriers. Transportation incidents formed an important part of my practice. I evaluated cargo damage, delivery failures, accidents, freight shortages, detention disputes, and other operational events to determine responsibility, available defenses, insurance implications, and potential recovery. I also examined relationships involving drivers, owner operators, shippers, brokers, customers, maintenance providers, and equipment vendors. Legal questions frequently concerned compensation, performance expectations, equipment responsibility, cargo custody, service failures, insurance requirements, and allocation of loss between multiple parties. Regulatory matters required close attention to carrier authority, transportation safety requirements, driver qualification, hours of service, record retention, vehicle compliance, and documentation associated with interstate operations. I assisted operational personnel in responding appropriately when regulatory concerns affected fleet activities. When claims escalated, I reconstructed events using shipping records, bills of lading, driver documentation, communications, contractual terms, and loss evidence. This approach strengthened Point Dedicated Services' ability to defend claims, pursue recoveries, protect freight revenue, manage transportation liability, and resolve operational disputes efficiently.
