Looking for a professional ODK and KoboToolbox XLSForm developer?
I program clean, robust, error-free mobile data collection forms designed for field research, NGOs, monitoring & evaluation (M&E), and market surveys.
What I can build for you:
- Custom XLSForm scripting from Word, PDF, or paper questionnaires
- Complex skip patterns (relevant), branching, and grouping
- Advanced validation logic (constraint) and custom error messages
- Cascading dropdown lists (country > province > district)
- Repeat groups, roasters, and nested loops
- Calculations, scoring systems, and automated date/time math
- GPS capture, signature collection, media uploads, and audit logging
- Multi-language surveys (English, French, Arabic, Urdu, etc.)
- Direct deployment and testing on KoboToolbox, ODK Central, and Enketo
Why choose this gig?
- 100% validated syntax (no ODK syntax errors on upload)
- Clean database-friendly variable naming convention
- Fast turnaround and post-delivery revision support
Please message me with your draft questionnaire before ordering so we can confirm the exact scope!
FAQ
What do I need to provide to get started?
You need to provide your draft questionnaire in Word, PDF, Google Doc, or Excel format. Please note any specific skip logic, mandatory fields, custom calculations, or constraint rules you require.
Will the XLSForm work on both KoboToolbox and ODK?
Yes. The form is built using standard XLSForm syntax, making it fully compatible with KoboToolbox, ODK Central, ODK Collect, and Enketo web forms
Can you handle complex skip logic, repeat groups, and calculations?
Yes. I script multi-condition skip logic (relevant), repeat rosters/loops, cascading select menus, regex patterns, dynamic score calculations, and custom error validation messages.
Can you configure the survey in multiple languages?
Yes. If you provide the translations in your document, I can configure multi-language toggles directly in the XLSForm so enumerators can switch languages seamlessly in the field.
How do you guarantee the form is error-free?
Every XLSForm is validated through syntax checkers and tested live on both Enketo web previews and mobile devices before delivery to ensure zero upload or deployment errors.
Do you use custom variable names for data exports?
Yes, I can follow your specific naming convention or create clean, logical snake_case variable names to ensure your exported data is clean and ready for analysis in SPSS, Stata, R, or Excel.
What happens if I find an issue during field testing?
All packages include post-delivery support to fix any logic errors, syntax bugs, or unexpected behavior encountered during your pilot or test runs.
