Provided full English-to-Brazilian Portuguese (PT-BR) localization, proofreading, terminology management, and in-game LQA for The Demon Lord's Lover, an indie game developed by ayumu98. Key Responsibilities & Deliverables: • Full Game Localization: Localized approximately 70,000+ words of dialogue, UI text, item descriptions, abilities, menus, and system strings into natural Brazilian Portuguese. • Character Voice & Personality Adaptation: Reviewed character profiles, lore, relationships, and narrative context before localization to preserve each character’s personality, tone, humor, slang, and emotional intent. • Gender-Neutral Language Solutions: Reworked English strings with unspecified gender into natural Portuguese structures, avoiding incorrect gender assumptions while keeping the dialogue fluent and immersive. • Terminology & Consistency Management: Built and maintained a project glossary and style guide to ensure consistent names, skills, items, recurring expressions, character voices, and localization decisions throughout the game. • Technical Localization: Preserved variables, placeholders, tags, formatting, and game-specific syntax while adapting text to Brazilian Portuguese without breaking functionality. • UI & Text-Fit Adaptation: Adjusted translations when necessary to fit menus, buttons, dialogue boxes, and interface limitations while preserving meaning and readability. • In-Game LQA: Tested the localized build directly in-game to identify and correct contextual errors, untranslated strings, terminology inconsistencies, awkward phrasing, text overflow, and UI issues. • Final Proofreading & Polish: Performed a complete linguistic review to improve fluency, consistency, readability, and overall player experience before final delivery. The project gave me hands-on experience managing a complete game localization workflow, from initial translation and terminology planning to contextual review, technical QA, and final in-game testing.
