A great playlist should feel like a journey filled with emotion, not just a collection of songs. My process starts with a concept—a holiday, place, era, experience, event, or idea. I then look beyond obvious song choices, exploring lyrics, cultural connections, movies, television, musical contrasts, and unexpected relationships between songs and genres.
I often structure playlists like a film or live performance, with an opening that establishes the world, distinct chapters or acts, moments of contrast and an arc that concludes with a payoff which transforms the journey into an experience.
