Lecturer, Music Production, Mixing & Mastering — ETIC, School of Sound, Lisbon 2024 – Present Since 2024, I've been teaching Music Production, Mixing, and Mastering at ETIC, School of Sound in Lisbon, one of Portugal's leading creative technology schools. In this role, I guide students through the full production workflow — from recording and arrangement to mix balancing, spatial processing, dynamics control, and final mastering for release-ready standards. My teaching draws directly on my professional practice as an audio engineer and DSP developer (Pedro Gerardo / DuskAudio), where I work hands-on with mastering-grade limiting, multiband processing, and psychoacoustic principles that inform how I explain concepts like loudness perception, stereo width, and true-peak control in the classroom. I bring real-world context to every lesson — using industry-standard tools (Pro Tools, Cubase) alongside insights from building my own audio plugins — so students understand not just how to use a tool, but why it works the way it does. Beyond technical instruction, I help students develop critical listening skills, build efficient production workflows, and prepare portfolio-ready mixes and masters suitable for commercial release. My goal is to bridge the gap between academic learning and the practical demands of the professional audio industry.

Live Sound Engineer & Touring Professional 1998 – Present For over 25 years, I've worked in live sound across audio companies, music festivals, solo artists, and touring bands — building a career on the road that most people never see the reality of. Live sound isn't just technical skill; it's resilience. It's loading in at dawn, troubleshooting a failing system an hour before doors open, and still delivering a flawless show because the audience — and the artist — deserve nothing less. Touring life demands more than expertise with a mixing console. It tests your ability to problem-solve under pressure, adapt to constantly changing venues and equipment, and stay level-headed when everything is going wrong at once. There are no second takes in live sound. Once the show starts, it's happening in real time — every decision, every fix, every call has to be right the first time. I've learned to carry that pressure without losing precision: managing fatigue from back-to-back travel days, holding a team together when deadlines are tight and tempers are short, and staying focused when a single mistake could derail an entire performance. That mental discipline — as much as the technical craft — is what I bring to every project I take on. Whether it's a festival stage, a club tour, or a solo artist's run of shows, I understand what it takes to keep the sound solid and the show moving, no matter what happens behind the scenes.
