Box sizing is core to what I do. I rebuild the dieline to your actual product dimensions so filler material stops counting against your ratio, this is a structural fix, not just a cosmetic one.
Do you calculate my exact empty space ratio or just design a tighter box?
I design and size the packaging structure. I don't issue a calculated compliance percentage or certify your ratio, that determination should come from whoever handles your regulatory documentation. I build the box right; you get that verified separately.
Is "PPWR aware" just marketing language, or does it change how you actually design?
It changes real decisions: box to product sizing, avoiding false bottom or double wall structures, leaving labelling space for required symbols once the Commission finalizes them, and material choices that do
Can you match an existing SKU family, or does each item get designed independently?
I can work across a product line and keep dielines, labelling zones and structural logic consistent across SKUs, useful if you're standardizing packaging ahead of PPWR rather than fixing items one
What's your actual process for redesigning packaging that's already close but not quite compliant ready?
Send your current dieline and dimensions. I audit where the structure creates unnecessary void space or labelling constraints, then redesign only what needs to change, I don't rebuild from zero if the core structure is already sound.
Will the file specs match what a specific manufacturer or print vendor needs or generic print ready?
Send your manufacturer's spec sheet if you have one and I'll match it exactly bleed, color profile, dieline format. Without one, I deliver to standard commercial print specs, which most vendors accept.
Do you handle tape and secondary packaging or only primary product packaging?
Both, when they're part of the same PPWR consideration tape and structural fill decisions affect your overall empty space ratio, so I factor them in rather than treating primary packaging in isolation.
What's actually different between the source file I get and a flat export?
You get the live Illustrator file with editable dieline paths, layered artwork and outlined but adjustable text, not a flattened PDF. That matters if you need to adjust for a different SKU size later without paying for a full redesign.
How do you handle scope creep if my "one redesign" turns into multiple SKU variants mid project?
Tell me upfront if you're expecting variants, I'll price and scope it as a set from the start. Adding variants mid order gets quoted separately rather than absorbed into revisions, so there's no ambiguity either way.
What's the actual boundary between what you deliver and what my regulatory advisor still needs to sign off on?
