Reliability Specialist
Jan 2024 - Present • 2 yrs 4 mos
I am an experienced mining professional with over 15 years in underground operations, fixed plant maintenance, and continuous improvement within high-performance environments. My career has been built across planning and scheduling, health and safety, training, and operational leadership, with a strong focus on delivering practical outcomes that improve productivity and reliability. In my current role, I am heavily involved in departmental budgeting and forecasting, cost management, and data-driven decision making. I work closely with key stakeholders to identify improvement opportunities, track performance, and implement sustainable solutions aligned to business targets. My experience includes developing and managing maintenance schedules, supporting asset integrity programs, and contributing to shutdown planning and execution. I have a proven track record in continuous improvement initiatives, including building and utilising KPI dashboards, improving workflow efficiencies, and supporting cost reduction strategies across multiple operational areas. I bring a strong understanding of OEE drivers, labour productivity, and maintenance optimisation, with a focus on simplifying complex data into clear, actionable insights. Having led small teams in fast-paced, safety-critical environments, I value clear communication, accountability, and practical leadership. I take pride in delivering systems and processes that are not only effective on paper, but also easy to implement on site. I am particularly interested in transitioning my experience into broader business improvement and corporate-focused roles, where I can continue to drive efficiency, cost performance, and operational excellence.
Underground Mining Coordinator
Aug 2020 - Jan 2024 • 3 yrs 5 mos
Underground Mine Coordinator with extensive experience delivering short to medium-term production plans within complex underground environments at BHP. Accountable for the execution of integrated schedules, I have played a central role in translating planning outputs into safe, efficient, and achievable daily and weekly operations. In this role, I have coordinated mine priorities across production, development, services, and maintenance activities, ensuring alignment to critical path tasks and production targets. I work closely with frontline supervisors and technical teams to optimise sequencing, manage constraints, and maintain schedule compliance, while responding dynamically to changing underground conditions. My ability to balance competing priorities has consistently supported the delivery of tonnes, metres, and availability targets. A key part of my role involves real-time decision-making and problem solving to mitigate delays and minimise downtime. I actively monitor performance against plan, identify deviations, and implement corrective actions to recover schedule and maintain operational momentum. This includes managing shift-level execution, coordinating resources, and ensuring clear communication of priorities across all crews. I have developed strong stakeholder management skills, working cross-functionally with planning, geotechnical, ventilation, maintenance, and operations teams to ensure alignment and transparency. I act as the central point of coordination underground, ensuring all parties are informed, risks are managed, and work is executed safely and efficiently. With a strong focus on safety, I embed risk awareness into all planning and execution activities, ensuring compliance with site standards and proactive hazard management. My experience as a Mine Coordinator has strengthened my ability to lead under pressure, drive accountability, and consistently deliver against production and operational targets.
Apprenticeship Contract Manager
MEGT • Vollzeit
Sep 2018 - Aug 2020 • 1 yr 11 mos
Apprentice Manager responsible for the coordination and performance of a large-scale Group Training Organisation (GTO) program supporting 88 apprentices on site at Olympic Dam, operated by BHP. Accountable for the end-to-end management of apprentices across multiple trades, I ensured the effective delivery of training, compliance, and workforce capability aligned to operational requirements. In this role, I oversaw apprentice development from onboarding through to completion, coordinating rotations across departments including fixed plant, underground, electrical, and mechanical teams. I worked closely with supervisors, training providers, and internal stakeholders to ensure structured learning pathways were maintained while meeting site production and maintenance needs. I managed performance, attendance, and behavioural standards, providing coaching and mentoring to support both technical competency and personal development. Where required, I implemented performance improvement plans and supported apprentices through challenges to maximise retention and successful completion rates. A key focus of the role was stakeholder engagement, acting as the primary interface between the GTO, site leadership, and external Registered Training Organisations. I ensured compliance with training frameworks, safety standards, and contractual obligations, while maintaining accurate reporting and documentation. I also played a role in workforce planning, aligning apprentice intakes and trade distribution with future business needs. Through strong organisation, communication, and leadership, I contributed to building a capable, safety-focused pipeline of tradespeople to support ongoing site performance.
