Worked as a legal stenographer supporting legal professionals in High Court and chamber-based work. My responsibilities included taking English shorthand dictation, preparing accurate typed documents, transcribing legal dictations, and maintaining professional formatting of legal documents. I worked with legal documents and drafting-related material including writ petitions, applications, affidavits, appeals, bail matters, case-related documents, notices, letters and other court/chamber documentation. I also handled audio and live dictation and converted dictated material into properly formatted digital documents. Key responsibilities and achievements: English shorthand dictation and accurate transcription. Typing and formatting legal documents in MS Word. Transcribing legal audio dictation into clean, structured documents. Preparing documents from handwritten, scanned and dictated material. Maintaining proper paragraphs, headings, numbering and legal formatting. Working with court-related and chamber documentation. Handling confidential legal information with discretion. Reviewing typed documents for spelling, punctuation, formatting and transcription errors. Working under time-sensitive requirements and completing dictated work within deadlines. Developing familiarity with legal terminology, drafting styles and court documentation. This experience strengthened my ability to understand legal dictation, accurately reproduce dictated content and prepare professional documents without changing the intended meaning. Client/Professional Requirements I Understand: Legal professionals generally require accuracy, confidentiality, speed, proper formatting and timely delivery. A stenographer must not only type quickly but also understand the context of legal terminology and carefully follow the speaker's instructions. My experience in legal chambers and High Court-related work helped me develop these qualities.
