ACCOUNTING MANAGER My Role at KPMG WHAT I DO I'm an Accounting Manager at KPMG, one of the Big Four accounting firms. I lead accounting engagements for mid-market and enterprise clients, manage client relationships, supervise audit and accounting teams, and ensure delivery of high-quality financial reporting and audit services. My primary focus: Deliver exceptional client service while developing my team and progressing toward Senior Manager/Principal track. MY DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES **Client Engagement Leadership (40% of my time)** - Lead 3-5 concurrent client engagements (varies by quarter/season) - Manage scope, timelines, and budgets for assigned projects - Supervise engagement teams (3-8 people per project depending on size) - Oversee financial statement audits, reviews, and compilations - Conduct client meetings and manage relationships with CFOs, controllers, audit committees - Develop audit strategies and risk assessments - Review workpapers and ensure quality control standards - Identify and manage scope expansion/additional service opportunities **Team Management & Development (25% of my time)** - Supervise Senior Associates and Associates on engagements - Review workpapers and provide technical guidance - Conduct performance reviews and mentoring sessions - Identify training needs and development opportunities - Delegate work and manage team capacity across multiple projects - Build strong working relationships with team members - Coach people toward promotion track (Associate → Senior Associate → Manager) **Technical Accounting (20% of my time)** - Perform complex accounting analysis and research - Document technical conclusions and accounting treatments - Review financial statements and disclosures for GAAP compliance - Research accounting standards using KPMG's accounting library - Support CFOs with accounting policy decisions and implementation - Contribute to firm technical accounting guidance
