FAQ
Do I need previous experience to take your lessons?
Not at all! I teach complete beginners as well as intermediate players. If you've never played bass before, we'll start from the fundamentals.
What style of music do you teach?
I can work with a variety of styles, including funk, soul, pop, rock, R&B, jazz, videogames music and contemporary music. If you have a specific artist or song you'd like to learn, feel free to tell me before booking.
Can we learn songs during the lessons?
Absolutely. Learning songs is one of the best ways to develop as a musician. We can use songs you enjoy to work on technique, timing, groove, harmony and musicality.
Can you teach me music theory?
Yes. Theory can be included in the lessons, but I prefer to connect it directly to the instrument and to actual music rather than teaching it as isolated information.
Can you help me with improvisation?
Yes. We can work on scales, chord tones, phrasing, creating bass lines and gradually developing your ability to improvise.
Do I need to know how to read music?
No. You can start without reading music.
Can I take lessons if I'm completely self-taught?
Definitely. We can identify your strengths and weaknesses and create a plan to fill the gaps without unnecessarily going back to things you already know.
Will you give me exercises to practice between lessons?
Yes. Depending on your goals, I'll provide exercises, songs or concepts to work on between lessons, along with suggestions on how to practice efficiently.
Can I ask you about a specific problem I'm having?
Of course. If you're struggling with a particular technique, song, groove or musical concept, you can use the lesson to focus specifically on that problem.
