What genres do you beta read?
Romance, dark romance, fantasy, sci-fi, thriller, horror, cozy mystery, historical fiction, memoir, and literary or general fiction. If your genre isn't on the list, message me anyway. I most likely still read it
What's the difference between alpha and beta reading?
Alpha reading happens early, on a rough or unfinished draft, and targets big-picture problems: plot, structure, character arcs. Beta reading happens on a polished draft and tells you how a real reader experiences it: pacing, engagement, emotional impact. I do both.
Will you actually be honest with me?
Yes. Kind, specific and honest. I'll tell you what's working and why, and I'll tell you where I got bored, confused or pulled out of the story. Vague praise doesn't help you revise, so I don't give it
Do you use AI to read or write feedback?
No. Never. I read every page myself and write every note myself. If you want proof, ask me anything about your manuscript and I'll answer from memory.
How long will it take?
It depends on length and package. Basic is 2 days, Standard 5, Premium 7. I confirm an exact delivery date before we start, and I don't disappear mid-read.
What format should I send my manuscript in?
A Word document (.docx) or a Google Docs link with comment access, so I can leave inline notes next to the lines that prompted them.
Do you proofread or copy edit too?
Yes, but not in this gig. Beta reading tells you if the story works; line editing and proofreading polish the prose. I offer those on a separate gig. Message me and I'll link you.
Can you review my query letter or synopsis?
Yes, as an add-on. If you're about to query agents, I'll read your query and synopsis alongside your manuscript so your pitch matches the book you actually wrote.
Is my manuscript kept confidential?
Completely. Your book is yours. I don't share it, repost it, quote it, or use it for anything beyond the feedback I write for you.
My book is longer than 50,000 words. Now what?
Message me before ordering and I'll quote you a custom offer based on your exact word count. Long manuscripts are welcome, they just need their own timeline.
