I help authors discover what their manuscript feels like in the hands of a real reader. My approach goes beyond simply saying whether I enjoyed a book. I pay attention to my genuine reactions while reading, including the moments that make me excited, curious, emotionally invested, confused, frustrated, or eager to keep turning the page. I specialize in romance, fantasy, and romantasy, with a close eye on the elements that keep readers connected to these stories. For romance, I look at chemistry, emotional tension, relationship development, character motivations, dialogue, pacing, and whether the romance feels natural and satisfying. I pay attention to the moments that make readers root for a couple, question their choices, or become emotionally invested in their relationship. For fantasy, I examine world-building, character development, plot progression, magic systems, consistency, pacing, and how easily readers can become immersed in the world. I identify places where information may feel confusing or overwhelming, as well as the details that make the world memorable. For romantasy, I pay particular attention to the balance between the romance and fantasy elements. I look at whether the relationship and larger story strengthen each other, whether the emotional stakes are strong enough, and whether the world-building supports rather than distracts from the characters and their journey. One of the most important parts of my approach is giving authors specific reader reactions instead of vague praise or criticism. I explain where I was pulled deeper into the story, where my attention started to drift, which characters I connected with, where I became confused, and which scenes left a strong impression on me. My feedback is honest, constructive, and respectful of the author's voice. I am not there to rewrite the book or turn it into my version of the story.

I work with authors who want honest, thoughtful feedback on their manuscripts before publishing. My experience covers beta reading and manuscript feedback across genres including romance, fantasy, romantasy, thriller, mystery, young adult, and other fiction. As a beta reader, I read manuscripts from a genuine reader’s perspective and pay close attention to the overall reading experience. I look at whether the story holds my attention, whether the pacing feels natural, whether the characters feel believable and engaging, and whether the plot develops in a way that keeps the reader interested. I also pay attention to dialogue, clarity, continuity, emotional impact, story flow, confusing sections, and moments where the manuscript may lose momentum. My feedback is honest but constructive. Rather than simply pointing out what I did not like, I explain what stood out to me as a reader and why certain parts worked or did not work for me. This helps authors understand how their manuscript may be experienced by someone who is reading the story for the first time. I also provide specific observations throughout the reading process, including genuine reactions to characters, important scenes, emotional moments, plot developments, and areas that may need another look. My goal is to give authors useful information they can consider during revision, without taking control of their story or changing their individual writing style. Alongside beta reading, my background in book editing allows me to recognize areas that may affect the clarity, structure, consistency, and readability of a manuscript. However, I understand the difference between editing and beta reading. When I beta read, I focus on the reader experience and the author's intended story. I have worked with different types of storytelling and understand that every manuscript has its own voice, tone, audience, and purpose.

I read unpublished novels like a paying reader and report back in that same voice. You get where I laughed, winced, got bored, or put the book down and wondered about a character three chapters later. Nothing arrives as a cold editorial checklist. Most of my work has been on full-length fantasy and romance manuscripts, including a complete beta read of the third book in an epic fantasy trilogy and chapter-by-chapter feedback on a second-chance romance and a dark romance fantasy. Because I write in these genres myself, I know what readers expect from a slow-burn arc, a magic system, or a betrayal that has to land, and I can tell you when a manuscript delivers on that or quietly dodges it. Here is what a typical read covers: Pacing, and the exact spots where momentum drops Character motivation, voice, and whether relationships build believably Plot holes and continuity slips, such as timelines, names, world rules, and details that shift between chapters Worldbuilding and magic systems, including whether the rules stay consistent under pressure Emotional payoff, meaning whether the big scenes earn their weight Language and cultural authenticity in manuscripts with multilingual dialogue or a specific regional setting With my background in developmental editing, I can also flag structural problems early and tell you which ones deserve a rewrite and which are only a polish away. Feedback is organized by chapter when you want detail, or condensed into a single summary when you want the big picture. Ready to find out how your story lands with a real reader? Message me before you order, and tell me your genre and length.
