I've spent 10 years practicing structural engineering across residential, light commercial, and specialty projects in the US, working directly with contractors, architects, homeowners, and property managers who need engineering work that survives permit review and, when it matters, legal or insurance scrutiny. My work spans two related tracks. The first is standard permit ready design: structural calculations and PE stamped reports, truss design and certification, foundation and underpinning design for settling or damaged structures, seismic retrofit engineering for older homes in seismic zones, and cold-formed/light-gauge steel framing design with fabrication ready shop drawings. The second is higher stakes documentation work: forensic investigation reports after deck or structural failures, and structural condition reports prepared for insurance claims or coverage requirements the kind of report that has to hold up when someone other than the client is reading it.
