Hello, I'm Björn, a German native. I have been doing transcriptions of old German handwriting since 2017, e. g. civil status documents, letters and diaries for genealogists. I have a lot of experience with texts from the 18th to the 20th century, but I can also offer transcriptions of older texts from the year 1500 onwards. I adhere to the transcription guidelines of the Archivschule Marburg.
You will get:
- a Word document with a transcript of your old German text (Sütterlin, Kurrent, Fraktur)
- a transcript that matches the original exactly to the letter
- explanations of abbreviations (as far as I can understand them)
Explanations of difficult and archaic German words (optionally in German or English) are available for an extra fee.

Do you translate the transcript to English as well?
It depends on the level of difficulty. Please send me your text in advance and I can tell you whether I will be able to translate it.
Do you also offer certified transcripts?
Unfortunately, I cannot offer certified transcripts.
Can you transcribe individual signatures, e. g. the signature of a painter on a painting?
Signatures without context or additional information are almost always illegible. On the other hand, individual words or names are often legible when they are part of a larger document. Please send me 1-3 pages of the document so that I can familiarize myself with the handwriting.
