Do you use AI to edit my manuscript?
No. Every manuscript I work on is read and edited by me — a human — start to finish. No AI writing tools, no automated rewrites. I may use tools like spellcheck for a final pass, but the editing judgment, structural feedback, and line-level decisions are all mine. That's the whole point.
Will my book be flagged by Amazon for AI content after you edit it?
No. KDP's AI disclosure requirement applies to content that was generated by AI — not content edited by a human. If you wrote your manuscript yourself and I edited it professionally, your book is classified as human-authored. You check "no AI-generated content" and publish with confidence.
Will you change my writing voice or style?
Never. Your voice is the reason someone picks up your book. My job is to remove what gets in the way of it — unclear sentences, structural drift, inconsistencies — not replace it with something generic. I use tracked changes on every edit so you see exactly what I changed and why.
How long will the editing and publishing process take?
It depends on manuscript length and package. Generally: proofreading and formatting for a 50,000-word book takes 3–5 days; full line editing runs 7–14 days; developmental editing up to 21 days. Message me with your word count before ordering and I'll give you a precise timeline.
What file format do you need from me?
A Word document (.doc or .docx) is ideal. Google Docs exports also work fine. I'll return your edited manuscript in Word with tracked changes, plus final KDP-ready files (PDF for print, EPUB for Kindle) once approved.
I used ChatGPT to help write parts of my book. Is that a problem?
It depends on how much. If AI generated full sections or chapters, you'll need to disclose that on KDP — and those sections will likely need significant rewriting to read as authentically human and protect your copyright. Be upfront with me about this in your first message. I won't judge it.
Do you work with first-time authors?
Yes — and first-time authors often get the most out of this service. I explain every significant change I make, so by the time your book publishes you'll understand why it reads better, not just that it does. Every author's first draft is rough. That's what editing is for.
How many revision rounds are included?
All packages include one full round of revisions after you review the edited manuscript. Cover design includes two revision rounds. Additional rounds beyond what's included can be arranged for a small fee. I'd rather get it right than rush you out the door.
