As a freelance Medical Product Designer on Upwork, I work with clients to develop medical and healthcare products from early-stage concepts through 3D CAD development, prototyping, and manufacturing preparation. I translate sketches, ideas, product requirements, reference images, and functional concepts into practical and manufacturable product designs. My work includes concept development, product form development, mechanical design, 3D CAD modeling, enclosure and housing design, PCB integration, component placement, assemblies, and design refinement. I develop detailed CAD models for medical devices, healthcare equipment, wearable health products, electronic enclosures, and related mechanical components, taking into consideration functionality, usability, component fit, assembly, material selection, and manufacturing requirements. For products containing electronics or PCBs, I design housings around the available board dimensions, connectors, switches, displays, batteries, sensors, and other internal components while maintaining appropriate clearances and accessibility. I also prepare designs for prototyping using processes such as 3D printing and other suitable manufacturing methods. Based on the project requirements, I refine prototypes and CAD models to address fit, assembly, functionality, and manufacturability. Where required, I apply Design for Manufacturing principles to help transition a prototype toward production. My deliverables can include 3D CAD models, assemblies, exploded views, 2D technical and manufacturing drawings, detailed dimensions, section views, material specifications, BOMs, and manufacturing-ready CAD files in commonly requested formats. I collaborate with clients throughout the design process, incorporate feedback and revisions, and maintain a practical focus on producing accurate, functional, and production-oriented product designs.
