What format should I provide my tracks in for the best results?
For the best results, I recommend providing your tracks in a lossless format like WAV or AIFF. If possible, export your mix as a stereo file with a bit depth of at least 24 bits and a sample rate of 44.1 kHz or higher. However, I can work with any audio format you have.
What will the mastered track sound like?
The mastered track will sound more polished and professional. I'll ensure the track is sonically balanced, enhancing the overall loudness without compromising on the dynamic range. The end result will be a track that sounds great on all systems and platforms.
How do I know when my track is ready for mastering?
Once you're satisfied with the mix and don't feel like any more changes need to be made to the individual tracks in terms of volume levels, panning, equalization, or effects. Essentially, your mix should sound as close as possible to how you want the final song to sound.
What DB should I export my mix at for mastering?
When exporting your mix for mastering, it's important to leave enough headroom for the mastering engineer to work with. A good rule of thumb is to aim for your loudest parts (the peaks) to hit around -6dB. This doesn't mean that the entire track should be at -6dB, but rather that the loudest parts.
